Frequently Asked Questions
What is Picasso’s?
Picasso’s is an all-ages paint-your-own pottery and craft studio where anyone can experience the joy of creating your own work of art! We offer items suitable for all ages, including but not limited to mugs, bowls, figurines, banks, picture frames, candle holders, and much more!
We also offer a variety of clay classes, sip and paint canvas classes, wood board painting, and mosaic.
Our studio is for artists of all experience levels!
What are your hours?
We are open for walk-ins 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. SEVEN days a week! Please check our calendar before your visit, as we frequently hold special events in which the studio will be closed to walk-ins!
Do I need a reservation?
We hold open studio every day from open till close, so no reservation needed! Reservations are recommended for groups of 5 or more (especially on weekends!) and are required for classes, special events, workshops, and camps.
Can you host a party or private event?
Of course! Please see our Parties page for more information. We are also 100% mobile and can come to your location! Our activities are perfect for birthdays, school groups, fieldtrips, and everything in between!
What do I need to bring?
We provide everything you will need to make your masterpiece! This includes glaze, paintbrushes, aprons, and everything else. While our paint does not stain, we do recommend wearing easily washable clothing.
When will my pottery be ready?
Drying, glazing, loading, firing, and packing an order takes us around 7 days. Kiln firing is a long process which by itself can take up to 9 hours! If you have not received a text from us after 7 days, please feel free to call our studio!
What is your policy for order pickup?
We are only able to hold orders for 30 days past our initial text reminder due to limited space in our studio. We send 5 text and call reminders to your provided phone number, so please keep an eye out!
If you need an extension for whatever reason we are more than happy to hold your order past the provided 30 days; just give us a call.
Will my pottery be food safe?
Yes! Our glaze is lead-free, non-toxic, and completely food safe once fired.
Please be aware that in addition to our regular glaze colors, we also have special glazes that are not food safe! These glazes are in a designated area and are only to be handled with staff assistance.
Can I put my pottery in the dishwasher or microwave?
Yes…. and no. While it is completely fine to put your pottery in the dishwasher and microwave, we recommend against it to prolong the life of your pottery. Extreme changes in heat can cause hairline fractures in the glaze called "crazing".
Can I put my finished pottery in the oven?
Please avoid cooking with your pottery! Our pottery is made from low-fire white clay, meaning it cannot withstand high temperatures such as the stove or oven.
Can you fire a pottery item I made or bought elsewhere?
Yes! We are happy to fire low-fire items you have made or bought elsewhere. You may also paint the item(s) with our glazes, for a fee.
We fire per item or per half-shelf. Please reach out to our studio at picassospottery@gmail.com with inquiries.
Tell me about your pottery and kilns!
Our pottery is low-fire white clay and we provide Mayco Stroke & Coat glaze for painting. We fire your artwork at Cone 06 (around 1,800 degrees!) for 8-9 hours in our electric Skutt kilns. The kiln must cool for several hours after firing before the pottery is ready to be unloaded. If you have additional questions about our process, please feel free to reach out to our knowledgeable staff.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! Picasso's gift certificates are the perfect choice for birthdays, holidays, Mother's Day, or just to say you care! Gift certificates can be purchased in any denomination and come on a colorful hand-painted tile. We also offer e-gift cards. There is no expiration date for when they can be used.
Do you work with charities?
Yes! We have many fun and engaging fundraiser ideas perfect for any group. We are also happy to work with a theme of your choice! Please fill out our contact form to receive more info.
