Frequently Asked Questions
What is Picasso’s?
Picasso’s is an all-ages paint-your-own pottery and craft studio where anyone can experience the joy of creating your own work of art! We offer items suitable for all ages.
We also offer a variety of clay classes, sip and paint canvas classes, wood board painting, and mosaic.
Our studio is for artists of all experience levels!
What are your hours?
We are open seven days a week! Our regular hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Please check our calendar before your visit, as we frequently hold special events in which the studio will be closed to walk-ins!
Do I need a reservation?
We hold open studio every day from open till close, so no reservation needed! Reservations are recommended for groups of 5 or more (especially on weekends!) and are required for classes, special events, and workshops.
Can you host a party or private event?
Of course! Please see our Parties tab for more information.
What do I need to bring?
We provide everything you will need to make your masterpiece! This includes glaze, paintbrushes, aprons, and everything else.
When will my pottery be ready?
Drying, glazing, loading, firing, and packing an order takes us around 7 days. Kiln firing is a long process which by itself can take 24 hours! If you have not received a text from us after 7 days, please feel free to call our studio!
Please be aware that we can only hold orders for up to 30 days due to limited space. We send text and call reminders to your provided phone number, so please keep an eye out!
Will my pottery be food safe?
Yes! Our glaze is lead-free, non-toxic, and completely food safe once fired.
Please be aware that in addition to our regular glaze colors, we also have special glazes that are not food safe! These glazes are in a designated area and are only to be handled with staff assistance.
Can I put my pottery in the dishwasher or microwave?
Yes…. and no. While it is completely fine to put your pottery in the dishwasher and microwave, we recommend against it to prolong the life of your pottery. Extreme changes in heat can cause hairline fractures in the glaze called "crazing".
Can I put my pottery in the oven?
Please avoid cooking with your pottery! Our pottery is made from low-fire white clay, meaning it cannot withstand high temperatures.
Can you fire a pottery item I made or bought elsewhere?
Yes! We are happy to fire low-fire items you have made or bought elsewhere. You may also paint the item(s) with our glazes, for a fee.
We fire per item or per half-shelf. Please reach out to our studio at picassospottery@gmail.com with inquiries.
Tell me about your pottery and kilns!
Our pottery is low-fire white clay and we provide Mayco Stroke & Coat glaze for painting. We fire your artwork at Cone 06 (around 1,800 degrees!) for 9 hours in our electric Skutt kilns. The kiln must cool for several hours after firing before the pottery is ready to be unloaded. If you have additional questions about our process, please feel free to reach out to our knowledgeable staff.
